Itinerary:
DAY ONE: Leaving St. Louis, we’ll travel north in our deluxe motor coach through the green river bottoms and rolling fields of Illinois into beautiful Wisconsin. There will be plenty of stops along the way, including lunch, and we’ll arrive to our accommodations (two nights) in Lake Geneva, WI by late afternoon. Lake Geneva is the place to be in Wisconsin during the beautiful summer and early fall, whether boating on the sparking Geneva Lake, strolling through the historic downtown and mansion lined old streets, or delighting in the cafes, restaurants and ice cream shops. Dinner will be at one of Wisconsin’s classic “Supper Clubs”.
DAY TWO: A morning on the water as we board a classic vessel for a scenic tour with Lake Geneva Cruise Line. Founded in 1873, the cruise line has been offering narrated boat tours of the lake and its scenic shores and bays for nearly a century. We’ll have time to stroll and browse in Lake Geneva Village after lunch back on shore. In the afternoon we will attend the amazing Dancing Horses Theater Show. For 20 years the Montana family has been showcasing their Arabian horses’ skill and beauty, along with their riders, in a dazzling performance in a 300-seat theater. Dinner will be at a local favorite restaurant.
DAY THREE: After a short drive north, we will arrive to the historic, popular and iconic Wisconsin Dells. Named for the stunning and unique sandstone formations along the winding Wisconsin River, the Dells began as a sleepy tourist destination in the 1950s. Drawing more and more crowds through the years with waterskiing shows, boat tours, carnivals and local oddity shops, the Wisconsin Dells has now swelled to a “must see” destination with indoor and outdoor water parks, retro-themed restaurants and motels, historic river cruises, and, of course, famous candy and fudge shops. We’ll start our day with some leisure time to duck into the many shops along the historic main drive. After lunch, hop onto a narrated Upper Dells Boat Cruise along the Wisconsin River. This journey along glacial cut channels allows for views of the sandstone towers, birch and pine crowned cliffs, and glimpses of Wisconsin wildlife. There are two shore stops where you can wander into the narrow stone passages along the river to see “Witches Gulch” and “Stand Rock” featuring the famous dog jump. This evening‘s dinner is a real treat at Sneaky Pete’s Wild West Dinner Show. This all-you-can-eat, broadway-style audience immersive experience is one of the Dell’s newest attractions! Our overnight will be here in the Dells.
DAY FOUR: Our first stop is one of the longest running attractions in the area - a horse drawn carriage tour of Lost Canyon, the longest and deepest canyon in Wisconsin. Your horse-drawn carriage tour is narrated through the soaring cliffs of the winding canyon route. After lunch, we’ll board the coach for a short drive to the famous House on the Rock in Spring Green, WI. Built in 1960 by Alex Jordan, his dream home atop a rocky outcrop expanded into a labyrinth of collections of oddities on a massive scale. Explore the famous Infinity room, a giant carousel, armor collections, underground cities, and
much more. This is truly an experience that is “hard to describe” in all ways! We’ll overnight nearby in Middleton, WI.
DAY FIVE: We’ll board our motor coach for a comfortable scenic ride back to St. Louis, arriving by early evening.
