Day 1 – Welcome Dinner in Boston
Welcome to Boston, where your Trains of New England adventure begins! After arriving, enjoy a motorcoach transfer to your hotel and take some time to settle in. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a warm Welcome Dinner, a chance to get to know each other and preview the scenic rail journeys and charming towns that await in the days ahead. (D)
Day 2 – Amtrak to Portland, Seal Watching & Lobster Cruise
This morning, board Amtrak’s Downeaster for a scenic journey from Boston to Portland, Maine, passing through charming towns and along stretches of the Atlantic coast. Upon arrival, savor a fresh seafood lunch before stepping aboard a Catch and Release Cruise—where you’ll spot seals, learn about Maine’s lobstering traditions, and experience the rhythms of coastal life. Day 3 – Mt. Washington & the Cog Railway
Today, journey into New Hampshire’s White Mountains to visit the legendary Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast and famed for its dramatic weather and sweeping vistas. Board the historic Mt. Washington Cog Railway—the world’s first mountain-climbing train, in operation since 1869—for a thrilling ride up the steep slopes to the summit.
